What a course is like
Courses have a start and end date. At the beginning of each week, usually Tuesday or Wednesday, videos, self-tests, assignments, and readings are released.
You study whenever you want during the week, but graded assignments have deadlines.
Assignment deadlines
Generally, the deadline for the weekly assignment and final exam is one week, and each has only one attempt. The first assignment has a two-week deadline for those who start late.
Deadlines are not extended individually, so organize your week.
How much time to set aside
The FAQ recommends 3 to 6 hours per week, depending on your knowledge. Each graded weekly assignment has a 60-minute limit and the final exam, 120 minutes.
Studying a bit each day avoids rushing at the end of the week.
The two certificates
Participation confirmation is for those who accessed at least 50% of the material. The Record of Achievement is for those who scored at least 50% of the points across all evaluated tasks.
After the course ends, the content remains available for self-study, but only participation confirmation applies.

Frequently asked questions
Is openHPI paid?
Courses are free. The exception is courses from the Executive Education channel, which are paid through HPI Academy.
Who can enroll?
There are no formal restrictions. You just need a valid email.
What languages are the courses in?
Mainly German and English. Each course page will inform you.
Can I join if the course has already started?
