How SENAI's free courses work
SENAI, the National Industrial Learning Service, has trained workers for industry for over 80 years. In addition to technical and qualification courses in schools in each state, it maintains a national free course platform online: SENAI Play.
On the platform, anyone can create an account and start studying immediately. There's no selection process, no entrance exam and no monthly fees. The courses are open and you choose where to start.
These are free courses with short duration. They don't replace a technical course or a degree, but they help you learn a new skill, review a subject and show on your resume that you continue studying.
How SENAI Play works
SENAI Play is simple to use. See what you find there:
- Video courses, organized by area.
- Short content sent via WhatsApp.
- Podcast episodes to listen to anywhere.
- Learning paths that bring together several courses on the same topic.
- Digital certificate in courses that offer it, released upon completion.
The platform works in your mobile and computer browser without needing to download an app. Your progress is saved, so you can stop and come back later.

How to choose the best course for your goal
Start by thinking about three points: what you need to learn now, how much time you have per week, and which skill can help you most quickly at work or in your job search.
On each course page, SENAI Play shows the duration, modules and whether there's a certificate. Read that part before signing up and choose the course that meets your current need. Then, move on to other topics.
How to use courses to advance at work
Courses work best when you combine what you've learned with practice. Choose topics that companies in your region are looking for, like IT, customer service, logistics and workplace safety.
Keep your certificates in a folder on your phone and add to your resume the courses related to the job opening you want. Several short courses on the same topic show dedication and help in interviews.
How to create a simple study plan
Set aside a fixed time of day, even if it's just 20 minutes. Define how many modules you want to complete per week and track your progress.
Because the courses are short, you can study in small blocks: a video lesson at home, a podcast on the bus, and a WhatsApp message during your break. Consistency matters more than long study sessions once in a while.
Who can take the courses
SENAI Play's free courses are open to anyone, in any state in Brazil. They're for people looking for their first job, for those who are unemployed and want to return to the job market, for those already working who want a promotion, and for those who just want to learn something new.
You don't need to be enrolled in school or have worked in industry. In most courses, there's no education requirement either. You just need an email, a phone or computer with internet, and your personal information for registration.
People with little time can also keep up: the courses are divided into short lessons, and each lesson can be completed in just a few minutes.
Online courses and technical courses: what's the difference
SENAI has two types of offerings. The free online courses, gathered on SENAI Play, are open to everyone without selection, and can be taken at any time. They are short and focused on one skill.
Technical and professional qualification courses, in-person or hybrid, are offered by each state SENAI. They have calls for applications, a number of places available, registration dates and sometimes an exam or lottery. Some are free through scholarship programs.
If you want to start today, SENAI Play is the fastest path. If you want longer technical training, follow the calls for applications from your state's SENAI.
How to get the certificate
In courses that offer a certificate, it is released when you complete all lessons and activities. The document is issued in digital format (PDF) and can be downloaded in your student area.
Not all content on the platform offers a certificate. Check this information on the course page before you start. If someone charges you to issue a certificate from a free SENAI Play course, be suspicious.
Frequently asked questions
Is the SENAI certificate worth putting on your resume?
Yes. A free course certificate shows that you studied a topic and completed your training at a well-known institution. It's not a technical course diploma, but it helps highlight your interest in learning.
Are the courses really free?
Yes. SENAI Play courses are offered at no cost: you don't pay to create an account, study or download the certificate from courses that offer it.
Do I need to have completed high school?
In most free courses, no. Just having interest in the topic is enough. Some more advanced courses indicate prior knowledge on their own page.
Can I take several courses at the same time?
Yes. You can start more than one course and advance through each at your own pace. The platform keeps track of your progress in all of them.
Do the classes have set schedules?
No. The classes are recorded and available anytime, on your phone or computer.
Is SENAI Play the same as SENAI's in-person courses?
No. In-person technical and qualification courses are offered by each state SENAI unit, with their own rules and places available. SENAI Play brings together free online courses, open to the entire country.
