But before you leave everything on your payment card, please understand the fees and limitations of such payments. There is no need to postpone it for later use and there is no money to pay the entire bill.

Is it advantageous to pay a bill with a credit card? Is it worth it?

Although the bank does not charge a fee for this service, it is disadvantageous to pay the bill with a card due to the use of IOF. All financial transactions are subject to a tax on financial transactions.

So if you have the money to pay your bills now, don't use your card to pay more. If you don't have the money now, carefully consider whether it's worth paying off your debt.

We do not recommend that you use this option because the rates used by banks are usually very high (except for IOF charges, tax on financial transactions).

We will also recommend 3 applications that are widely used to pay bills using a credit card, check them out:

  • Mercado Pago

Mercado Pago is a company of Mercado Livre, a digital wallet for purchasing goods on the market. Targeting new markets, Mercado Pago has started offering other services, such as cell phone billing, gift card sales and our preferred payment method, credit card.

The platform allows the use of credit cards to pay bills of up to R$1,500 per month. Unfortunately, not all bills are accepted.

Except for a few other bills (e.g. payment of apartment fees, taxes and other expenses), preferential payments (water, electricity, telephone, etc.) can usually be accepted without any problems.

  • Pic Pay

The application appeared with interesting and interesting names, attracting young audiences, and its main function was to make payments between people.

The app charges a fee of 2,99% to pay with a credit card. But how do you use PicPay to pay for free? Here we go: you can use your credit card to transfer R$$ 800 per month to another PicPay account for free.

Once you've done this, you can use the account balance you received in the transfer to pay bills and invoices for free. PicPay offers most of the distributors, meaning it's unlikely that money orders won't be accepted.

Here are some tips:

  • Pay Recharge

Recarga Pay is an app that recharges cell phones and also offers other services, such as credit card payments. The free payment limit is R$100 per month.

However, the company announced that starting April 12, 2021, the limit will be increased to R$1,400. This is good news! There are no restrictions on transactions during the month. Unfortunately, the number of affiliated companies is slightly lower than that of Mercado Pago. The full list is available in the app.

If the free service exceeds the limit, the charge on the current month's bill is up to R$$ 5,000 reais, and a fee of R$2,49% will be charged.

Above this amount, the rate will be 2.99%. But starting April 26, 2021, regardless of the amount, the rate will be 2.99%. In this case, the application will notify you of the final transaction amount before completing it.

The app also offers a plan called Prime +, which costs 19.90 reais per month and has a limit of 2 thousand reais for paying bills.

Paying outstanding bills using your credit card is a good idea if the financial institution's interest rate is low. It is important to evaluate this carefully so as not to end up at a loss.

Check your finances and organize your bills. Ideally, this should not happen, but if you are caught off guard, it is important to know how to pay using your credit limit and then pay the amount of the bill plus interest on the invoice.
