According to the secretary, the hiring of surplus personnel is an important measure to meet the demand for personnel in the Civil Police and ensure the safety of the population of Maranhão. In addition, the holding of the new public selection process should enable the renewal of the PC MA staff, which may result in improvements in the quality of services provided by the institution.

How did previous Maranhão Civil Police competitions work?

The Civil Police of Maranhão (PC MA) held its last public competition in 2017, organized by the Brazilian Center for Research in Evaluation and Selection and Promotion of Events (Cebraspe).

The competition offered 100 vacancies for the positions of police delegate, police clerk, police investigator and criminal expert, with initial remuneration ranging from R$ 4,550.28 to R$ 18,957.64.

The stages of the public competition consisted of objective tests, a discursive test, a psychotechnical examination, a physical capacity test, a medical evaluation, an oral test (only for the position of delegate) and an evaluation.

Candidates approved in all stages of the public competition were called for the professional training course, which was eliminatory and classificatory in nature.

Before this competition, the PC MA held the last competition in 2012, which offered 350 vacancies for the positions of police officer, police clerk and police delegate. The stages of the public competition consisted of objective tests, a discursive test, a psychotechnical exam, a physical ability test, a medical evaluation and a professional training course.
